Why Visit Scandinavia?

Traveler lovers who can afford a break away from a daily routine usually look for a destination quite different. Bali, Tenerife, Fiji, Thailand, Vietnam and similar places might be your first thought, but being the “honeymoon area” for more and more couples each year, are these destinations really exotic? Think outside the box and consider visiting Scandinavia. There are no sandy beaches with palm trees, but other than that Scandinavian countries have a lot to offer. Stunning architecture, some of the most beautiful and pristine natural sites, great restaurants are just some of the reasons to fly here. Take a look at some of the things to do and see in Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Denmark

Millions of tourists visit this Scandinavian country every year. Copenhagen downtown has many beautiful buildings, The Little Mermaid statue and plenty others things to see. But, if you are more into just relaxing and contemplating, just sit down at some of the local pubs, order Tuborg Classic and enjoy. Legoland, a calmer version of Disneyland, but also family friendly theme park shouldn’t be missed.

Iceland

If you come to this country at the end of June, you won’t get enough sleep. Experiencing 24-hour daylight is worth a trip to Iceland. But, be prepared for the strange feeling of being alone in the world. Some like it, while others might feel that somehow the world has forgot about them. But, don’t worry, after you see Aurora Borelais, the northern lights, you will feel wonderful again.

Norway

There are many myths and legends about how the fjords were made. Whatever the truth is, trust me, they are astonishing. For that reason, take a boat ride around Norway’s coast and see how astonishing fjords are yourself. Preikestolen or Pulpit Rock is a must see in Norway!

Sweden

One of the most interesting sites for tourists in Sweden is arguably Ice Hotel. And, yes, it’s true, it’s a hotel made of ice. Of course, when visiting it, don’t forget to bring a warm coat. This accommodation property is located in Jukkasjärvi and open from December to April. If, however, you are more into a city-break, Stockholm is waiting for you offering booming nightlife, incredible restaurants and architecture with a laid back feel typical of Scandinavia.

Finland

The oldest city in this Scandinavian country is Turku, European capital of culture in 2011. Many artists and writers call this place home. Turku is the first Finish city many tourists see when they get off ferries from Aland and Sweden and therefore an important introduction to the mainland’s attractions and delights. And, of course, sauna is must-do thing when visiting Finland.
