When you think about Florida, Miami or Orlando come first to your mind. Sounds bustling, doesn’t it? However, if you want to meet the laid-back side of Florida, you should certainly visit Key West. Recently this lovely island has become year-round attraction, despite the fact that summers are rainy and buggy. If you are a morning person and you like getting up early, then summer Key West vacation might be really enjoyable experience for you. If you, however, like to unwind your mind, relax and be spontaneous when on vacation, late fall, winter and early spring (from November until March) are ideal for traveling here. Don’t worry, you’ll enjoy warm, dry and “shorts, t-shirt and sandals” vacation even if you visit Key West for the Christmas holidays. Skip hurricane peak times if you can and this means early autumn and late summer.
When we said “laid-back”, the atmosphere in Key West is by all means casual, informal and relaxed. You can feel funky vibe here, people say because it is closer to Cuba than the rest of the U.S. If you are free-spirited and artistic or you are just attracted to relaxed towns, come to Key West and you will understand why it has been so popular among famous people such as Ernest Hemingway.
- So, where to stay? If you have the luxury of staying for a full week, vacation rental provides you with a home away from home. Key West’s historic homes offer charm, convenience and all the modern amenities – and let visitors live like a local. Of course, you can stay at some luxury hotel if you prefer more conventional vacation. However, if you choose Key West, it is better to feel it in an authentic manner. Keep in mind that public transport is really not so well, bikes are preferred means of transportation, but you can also rent a car.
