Carved out of the cliffs, Oia with typical Greek architecture, cave houses and Venetian sea captains’ houses is incredible place for poking around. If you stay for the sunset in Oia, you’ll be spellbound. No wonder it’s legendary experience, especially viewed from a boat.

Fira, the capital, is a slice of heaven wit its pristine whitewashed buildings and dramatic cliffs. If you are a fan of archaeology, the Archaeological Museum in Fira contains Minoan artifacts. Monasteries and churches of Santorini’s capital will offer you a glimpse into contemporary and historical religious makeup of this lovely island in the Aegean sea. Spend a lovely day exploring the cafes and shops along narrow footpaths of Fira.

The present day shape of Santorini is crescent as a consequence of the volcano’s activity in prehistoric times, related with the myth of the lost Atlantis. The current geological caldera was created by an enormous explosion of a volcano about 3,600 years ago.

Although small in size, Santorini has been considered to be one of the top gastronomical destinations with incredible wineries and restaurants and one of the top honeymoon destination in Europe.
