Summer is just around the corner and many people have already organized their vacation. If you have decided and booked when and when to stay, you are probably daydreaming about the upcoming traveling. Of course, still there are many things to keep in mind and to think about, but somehow all the duties related to vacations are something we do easy and patiently. For pet owners, the thing to think about is whether your pet is a good candidate for traveling with you? Our furry companions, in particular dogs, adore traveling and they are certainly happier being in their owner’s company than alone. Luckily, there is a possibility to find some pet friendly hotels or countrywide cottages. However, some animals do not handle traveling well because of their temperament, routine changes and health issues. So, before deciding whether to take your animal friend with you, it is good to think about it carefully.

The type of travel is of high importance when deciding should your pet participate your vacation or not. Cats are not really into hiking, skiing and camping, while dogs would probably enjoy it. On the other hand, cats can always stay at your hotel room and they would be perfectly happy, while dogs might just become aggressive and sad if left alone too long. So, it is recommended to consider all the factors contributing certain animal’s physical, health and emotional condition and whether the changed environment could be appropriate for your furry family member. When it comes to your pet general health, pregnant, injured and sick pets are certainly not very good candidates for any type of traveling. Sometimes it is better to leave your pet at home, because it could get better medical care and you will be more relaxed.

Obviously, you have to find some pet friendly accommodation if you want to take your pet with you, but inform yourself about the possible pet restrictions in the country you plan to visit. One thing to keep in mind is your pet’s temperament. Even though you are used to it, other travelers would not tolerate excessive whining, biting, barking etc.
