Saint Gervais des Bains is an idealistic community situated in the French Alps directly across the border from Switzerland. More than anything, tourists flock here in the winter months for some of the best skiing in the world, but there are plenty of other activities in the city to enjoy. Knowing where to stay while in Saint Gervais can make all the difference in the world and can separate a normal vacation from a fantastic one. We will be reviewing the best hotels in the area so that you can make the best decision when it comes to budget, location and amenities.
Chalet Roches
Ranked consistently by travelers as the best hotel in the city, Chalet Roches offers great views of the surrounding valleys and mountains while maintaining spectacular living quarters for its guests. From the uber-large flatscreen TVs to the gigantic beds that come in each room, you will find nothing but luxury waiting for you here. Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for these amenities, but it is well worth it for those who can afford it.
Residence Soderev Les Arolles
These accommodations are better priced than the ones at Chalet Roches and can be rented in one, two or three-bedroom versions. The larger units accommodate up to six people and the location of the villa is superb; just a ten minute walk to either the ski lifts or the town center. You will never be too far from the action while staying here. Perfect for larger families who are traveling together, the Residence Soderev will not disappoint those who wish for a balance of convenience and cost.
Hotel Liberty Mont Blanc
Definitely one of the lower-budget hotels in the area, Hotel Liberty Mont Blanc still maintains a decent level of service and politeness that many low-budget hotels simply cannot offer. Owned and operated by the same individual, the satisfaction of the tenants here is paramount to the owner, Frederic. The inside reminds you of a traditional ski chalet, with authentic wooden stairs, raised ceilings and carved wooden verandas. While not the best hotel here, it is one of the best when it comes to a great price and quality service.
Club MMV Monte Bianco
Yet another high-tier hotel in the Saint Gervais region, Club MMV Monte Bianco features beautiful terrace views from your own private balcony, an indoor pool and steam room, as well as a spa for the adults in your booking party. The hotel offers partial and full service options (full service covers your meals and access to the spa) all without completely breaking the bank. Our only complaint with the hotel would be the lackluster on-site bar that doesn’t offer a full-range of potent potables.
Hotel Le Regina
Probably the best hotel in terms of proximity to the airport, Hotel Le Regina makes it their mission to safely arrange the transfer of their guests to and from the airport and features full concierge service to make daily planning a breeze. Great food is served on-site and will make you forget about going out to eat, while access to the ski lifts is just a few minutes away. Priced in the middle in terms of affordability, Hotel Le Regina makes a great compromise for those who are staying in the area for several days.
If however you want something more than any hotel can offer, privately rented holiday apartments in St Gervais may be a better option. Visit the Owner’s Direct website for more information.
